Sclerodactyly is a severe form of skin tightening that causes curvature of fingers.  It is a condition that can be experienced in some people diagnosed with scleroderma. The initial stages involve swelling of the fingers, later, as the connective tissue becomes fibrotic causing tight junctures and curvature of the fingers. The skin on the fingers can become thickened and tight and leave permanent finger deformity.
